At Movimiento Cívico Nacional, we believe that civics is synonymous with freedom, which is why we are committed to strengthening institutions and consolidating the Republic in Guatemala.
It is the duty of citizens to protect the freedom, purity, and legality of the electoral process and the principle of alternation in public office.
Given the crisis the country is experiencing and the recent actions of the Public Prosecutor's Office during the electoral process, Movimiento Cívico Nacional on October 11, 2023, held a peaceful march with young members of the movement from our headquarters to the Constitutional Court to file a legal action.

With the filing of the "amparo" action before the Constitutional Court, we requested the protection of constitutional rights, especially the republican and democratic principle of separation of powers.

In addition to requesting that measures be ordered for the protection and preservation of the supremacy and independence in electoral matters of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal and the invariability of electoral results by the Judicial Bodies and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
With these actions, MCN intends to prevent, through the "amparo" request, the threat related to fundamental aspects of the constitutional order, specifically popular sovereignty and the republican, democratic, and representative system of government.
It is important to safeguard the electoral process, as criminal investigations cannot alter the process and the outcome of the elections.
Let us remember that we must exercise our right to demonstrate responsibly, without affecting the rights and freedoms of other citizens.
We all defend Guate! Therefore, we call for our constitutional order to be protected and for the rights of all Guatemalans to be guaranteed.
