On January 14 at 2:00 PM, elected officials, including congressmen, President-elect Bernardo, and Vice President Herrera, are scheduled to take office. The president will then need to appoint his cabinet, consisting of 14 professionals who will be in charge of the country's 14 ministries.
As of November 18, the president-elect has not yet presented his cabinet. Therefore, MCN organized a dialogue to discuss the importance of these positions and the characteristics to consider when selecting these officials. To get an expert opinion, former Minister of Economy Rubén Morales was present, sharing his experience and highlighting the importance of ministers having a deep knowledge of the country, having explored and worked in various regions to better understand needs and propose appropriate solutions.
Conclusions
After hearing experiences and exchanging opinions, participants concluded that the following should be considered when choosing a minister:
- • It must be verified that they are free of crimes and that there is coherence in their academic and professional background.
- • They must have the ability to face challenges collectively and individually.
- • Have a track record within the corresponding ministry.
Regarding what citizens expect in the first 100 days of government, these were the conclusions:
- • Prioritize fundamental aspects such as security and education.
- • Initiate audits in the different ministries to evaluate their effectiveness and efficiency.
