Signing of the Charter of Madrid: defense of liberty and the Republic

Last Tuesday, May 13, the MCN reaffirmed that the Republic is defended every day and can only exist if there are citizens willing to act.

From the National Civic Movement, together with its members, the Charter of Madrid was signed again, an initiative that unites citizens, leaders, and organizations from Ibero-America to protect what we value most: freedom, the rule of law, and the guarantee of a true Republic.

Why did we do it?

We believe that Guatemala deserves strong and efficient institutions, governments that respect the law, and citizens who do not give up.

Freedom is not defended with speeches, but with action. This is precisely what the signing of the Charter of Madrid represents, another step in a struggle that is not for a few, it is for all of us who believe in a living Republic and the value and impact of citizen participation.

Today, in the face of democratic setbacks and distrust in politics, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles that sustain a true Republic: the separation of powers, the rule of law, citizen participation, and individual liberty.

Building a better Guatemala starts with informing yourself, questioning, and participating!
