During the second week of September, part of the National Civic Movement team held a series of institutional meetings in Washington, D.C. with officials from the U.S. Department of State, the Senate, and the House of Representatives, as well as with civil society institutions and organizations.
The objective of these institutional meetings was to provide a Guatemalan perspective on the U.S. administration's efforts regarding the Strategy to Address the Root Causes of Migration. This included identifying the opportunities and challenges that this strategy represents for Guatemala, as well as avenues for collaboration and exchange between institutions.
In September, we also held a roundtable to delve into the local perspective on the Strategy published by the United States. We continue to reaffirm our commitment to building a Democratic Republic, as well as our proactive approach to implementing actions that support the achievement of common goals, generating prosperity and development in Guatemala.
