Citizens by duty and necessity. We were born 12 years ago with a thirst for justice. Not despite the violence, but because of it. We are a citizen organization that for more than a decade has carried out citizen activism for the strengthening of our country's institutions and to ensure individual freedom in society.

As a Movement, we believe that a Democratic Republic is the best form of government to protect the rights and freedoms of all Guatemalans.

By believing in a liberal and representative democracy, we promote citizen participation, which is fundamental to upholding the rights and freedoms of all Guatemalans.

Without citizen participation as a counterweight to the State, governments in power can turn their public power into an arbitrary and limitless one. Therefore, our citizen participation allows us to channel the feelings of the population, to be proactive and active in the construction of a true democratic Republic.

Our main actions over the years in the consolidation of the Republic

We were born 12 years ago in 2009 demanding justice. Since then, we have fought for the future of the country.

We coordinate national and international alliances to achieve common goals

We make citizen calls to exercise their rights

We oversee key election processes such as: General Elections, Election of the Constitutional Court, Election of the Supreme Court of Justice and Court of Appeals, and Election of the Attorney General, among others.

We make proposals and promote legal reforms that strengthen institutions.

Citizen proposal to the institutions responsible for appointing CC magistrates.

At the beginning of 2021, the five institutions responsible for appointing the new CC magistrates had to initiate the election process. Consequently, in December 2020, we submitted a citizen proposal to the institutions responsible for appointing CC magistrates.

We influenced the approval of the Anti-Corruption Law in 2012

We had an impact on the implementation of the electronic board in 2011.

We identify and stop threats against the Republic

We filed a Memorial before the PDH for abuse of Pre-trial Detention in Guatemala

We appeared before the office of the Human Rights Ombudsman, Jordán Rodas Andrade, to demand that he dare to fight against the abuse of pre-trial detention that occurs in our country, for the construction of a Republic where respect for individual rights prevails.

We filed a complaint with the Public Ministry against CODECA for more than 20 blockades of Guatemalans' freedom of movement

We filed an appeal against CANG for non-compliance in the election of the Principal Magistrate of the CC

We filed an appeal against the Bar Association of Guatemala for non-compliance in calling an Extraordinary General Assembly for the election of the Principal Magistrate of the Constitutional Court due to the vacancy caused by the death of Magistrate Bonerge Mejía. Consequently, to conclude the 2016-2021 period that ended on April 13, 2021. #IntegraciónCC

We delivered roses in the request for the removal of immunity for Otto Perez Molina in 2015

With the aim of peacefully asking protesters to allow deputies to enter to hear the impeachment proceedings against President Otto Pérez Molina, members of the National Civic Movement (MCN) delivered roses in 2015 to those protesting for and against, along with a bottle of water as a gesture of peace. With roses, we joined at that time #IdemandMy105Votes.

We denounced Sandra Torres' candidacy as electoral fraud in 2011

In 2009, we delivered more than 30,000 signatures to request the removal of immunity from then-president Alvaro Colom and his prosecution for the assassination of Rodrigo Rosenberg.

We train citizen leaders through ongoing activities.

We generate and promote citizen education campaigns.

We are a constant source of information and analysis in media and at national and international events.

And we will continue fighting for many more years for the strengthening of the institutions of a Democratic Republic...
