The members of the MCN are committed to taking action to build a true Republic, and for this, civic engagement is key. Therefore, on May 25, we went to the Santiago Atitlán Cooperative Basic Education Institute to carry out Civic Day. Public educational centers face challenges due to their condition and the neglect by the authorities of the Ministry of Education. Our mission was clear: to demonstrate that talking about education is important, but acting is essential to build the Guatemala we desire.
Having public schools in good condition is crucial for improving academic performance, motivating students, and ensuring they have access to quality educational opportunities. Investing in school infrastructure is responsible management of public resources, avoiding costly repairs and maximizing the efficient use of the budget.
Upon arriving at the institute, we encountered a discouraging reality: neglected green areas, covered in weeds and accumulated trash for years. However, instead of being discouraged, we saw an opportunity to make a difference. Armed with shovels, hoes, and machetes, we began to clean and clear every corner, transforming the environment so that children could enjoy their recreation time in a clean, safe, and natural space.

Civic engagement, in its essence, is action. It's not just about ideas, but about getting to work. That day, every member of the National Civic Movement gave their best effort, driven by the desire for children to have a better future, with the hope of leaving a lasting change for the country.
Let's move forward, inspired by the achievements of that day and with the firm conviction that every small act of civic engagement counts. Together, we can transform the reality of public education in Guatemala and offer our children the future they deserve.
Join here to participate in our civic days.
